FAQ
- How are the words related? Through manual review! I used Python's sentence-transformer model, along with a little semantic-judgement help from Claude's API, to create a database of semantic word pairings, and then reviewed each result for accuracy and playability.
- How do points work? You get a point for each guess you don't use! Each puzzle has a maximum of 10 points possible - by getting it on the first try.
- Can I guess proper nouns? Standard word game rules apply — no proper nouns allowed. For example: "games" and "steam" are related as Cold.
- Can I play past puzzles? Please do! The full Archive of Lexicles is here.
- How many past puzzles are there? The first puzzle launched April 1st, 2025!
- I found a word that needs to be included or re-calibrated. What should I do?Send a note to matt@lexicle.com and I'll review the change. I appreciate the help!
- Can I suggest a feature or report a bug? Yes! Reach out via matt@lexicle.com.
- Do I need an account to play? Nope, your progress is saved locally in your browser. If you want to save your progress across browsers and devices, you can create a free account with any Google/Gmail address.
- Will my stats carry across devices? Only if you're logged in. Otherwise, stats are tied to your browser.
