- How are the words related? Using Python's sentence-transformer model to sort a large database of 5-letter words, along with a long manual review process. Here's a whole blog post about it.
Spot a semantic error or missing word in one of the games? Please let us know or drop a comment below.
- How do points work? You get a point for each guess you don't use. Every puzzle has a maximum of 10 points possible = a correct guess on the first try.
- Can I guess proper nouns? Standard word game rules apply — no proper nouns allowed. For example: the words "games" and "steam" have a cold relation.
- Can I play past puzzles? Please do! The full Archive of Lexicles is here but requires creating a free account first.
- How many past puzzles are there? The first Lexicle launched April 1st, 2025.
- I found a word that needs to be included or re-calibrated. What should I do?Send a note to matt@lexicle.com and we'll review the change. We appreciate the help!
- Can I suggest a feature or report a bug? Yes! Reach out via matt@lexicle.com.
- Do I need an account to play? Nope, your progress is saved locally in your browser. If you want to sync your progress across all browsers and devices, you can create a free account.
- Will my stats carry across devices? Only if you're logged in. Otherwise, stats are tied to your browser.
